PRIDE PAINTING & RENOVATIONS was established by Philip Du Plessis in 1993 on a shoestring budget and with only one team of painters. However with Philip’s personal supervision and quality control the demand for Pride’s services grew to such an extent very quickly a further two teams were up and running.
By simply applying the correct primers and undercoats and selecting the best options (varnish or preservative for the different kind of wood finishing) makes a big difference to not only the final finish but also to the longevity.
Over the next seven years the business steadily grew and Pride kept on adding new clients to its existing list of high profile clients. Philip set high standards for his staff which included not only the proper preparation, quality products and a superior finishing touch, but also honest & friendly staff who understand the individual demands of customers. Staff who know how to remove and re-hang intricate layers of curtains and blinds, staff that know what furniture can be moved and what simply can be covered. Staff who respect the garden and don’t leave a perfect finish, but a semi demolished garden.
With high unemployment every second person calls himself a painter as they think it is easy to paint, however good honest staff with real experience is limited.
Pride Painters were trusted with a lot of interior redecoration work as the staff were trusted not only with the clients belongings but most importantly with the security of the respective families. For this reason there was soon so much work that Philip took on firstly a supervisor Thys to assist with quality control and secondly a partner Daniel Coetzer to keep an eye on all the extra teams. After two years together Daniel started his own company Prima painters and Philip downsized to make the business more manageable to allow for better quality control. Philip eventually sold the business to Anton Beer who still runs Pride Painters today.
Besides all the virtually hundreds of residential properties we have painted and renovated, we had many high profile clients including Anglo American farms who have both Boschendal and Vergelegen in their stable. The white washed historical Vergelegen buildings were done bi-annually with a white wash specially mixed for them. Projects included the Spier Wine estate which was done with a specialized product called Breathecoat.
Several historical buildings was done included Paardevlei and Rickety Bridge Wine Estate in Franschhoek.
Millenia Park belonging to Rupert International was also completely redecorated by us, both interior & exterior.
Our client list includes old age homes, many complexes (big & small) including Nutwood Gardens, Bowden Park and several high rise buildings on the Strand beachfront including Helderberg.
Clients included Somerset West best known developers including Anton Gerber, Tobie Mynhard, Okkie Potgieter and Fred Weber, where we not only did their newly developed building, but were also trusted to their personal residences inside and out. The reason why all these seasoned developers (who know the industry) made use of our services to do their personal residences is obvious: trust!
