Philip Du Plessis is a born and bred Somerset Wester and although he was away for a while, he could not stay away for long and thus moved back here where he lives with his lovely wife Sonja & their adorable children Luc and Mila.
Back in the nineties Philip worked as a sales presentative for Vadek Cedar Radex Paints where he picked up valuable experience before he started his own company Pride Painters & Renovations in 1993.
He built up Pride Painters to a very well known brand in the Western Cape, with many a prestigious projects under the belt including the Spier Wine Estate, Vergelegen Farm, The Rupert”s Millinea Park in Stellenbosch, many apartment blocks on the Strand beach front as well as many upmarket complexes like Erinvale and Nutwood Gardens.
Philip sold Pride Painters in 1999 to Anton Beer who is still running the company to this day.
Philip loves doing renovations and over the years did many renovations in Somerset West, Stellenbosch & Paarl. Several years after his restraint of trade period was over, Philip returned to the basin and opened PRO PAINT. He was later joined by Rodney from PAINTWORX who himself come from a painting background with loads of experience under the belt.
Rodney Heydenrych started his career in the painting industry many years ago with the well known Midas Paints in George and specifically focused on Earthcote (specialized coatings) where he was both Branch Manager and responsible for sales and technical advice calling on architects and developers, preparing quotes, doing specs and quotations. Specific prestigious projects that he was involved with include the well known Gondwana Game Reserve as well as the Oppenheimer owned Tswala Game Reserve. Other prestigious projects where he was involved with new coatings as well redecoration’s include upmarket Golf Estates such as Fancourt, Oubaai, Pinnacle Point, Pezula, Sparrebosch and Earls Court.
In 2009 he moved to Cape Town where he joined Paint Master as assistant Quantity Surveyor responsible for costing on big projects like apartment blocks and shopping centers, also giving technical advice and doing site inspections.
In 2011 he left Paint Master to open his own Company PAINTWORX which he ran until he decided to join Philip at PRO PAINT.
